Sharon Green,
Registered Holistic Nutritionist (RHN)
Graduated with a certificate of Merit, October 2007 from the Natural Nutrition Diploma Program, a two year program offered by the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition
(http://www.csnn.ca)
With over 1000 hours of studying the various aspects of nutrition, I have acquired a solid understanding and in-depth awareness of the subject. Amongst the many modules within the program, the diverse topics included; fundamentals of nutrition, eco-nutrition, allergies, sports nutrition, cellular biology, pathology, biochemistry, anatomy/physiology, alternative diets and preventative nutrition to name a few.
The case studies required for the practicum portion of the course has provided me with a concrete foundation for working with individual clients, discovering their individual requirements and implementing a personalized approach for their best health.
The importance of whole foods for optimum health cannot be understated. Mindful, well managed food practices may also aid in the
prevention of disease. As a Registered Holistic Nutritionist I assist you in determining, altering and executing healthful choices in your life.
Adding more natural, whole foods into one’s lifestyle will eventually lead to the removal of less nutritional foods. It is a matter of re-training our taste buds, the more wholesome, satiating foods we consume; the desire for the other will diminish.
My services include:
Nutritional Assessment ~ An initial nutritional assessment is utilized to explore the client’s nutritional well-being in relation to their present food choices and analyze present dietary practices. This assessment may also uncover potential deficiencies or imbalances throughout the body.
Personalized Programs ~ Personal health rebuilding programs and support in developing positive nutritional habits, lifestyle and general health. This may include weight normalization and management for our own individual body types.
Meal Planning ~ Customized meal plans for specific dietary/nutritional requirements. This can include healthy recipes, whole foods that are sustainable and cost-effective meal options.
Food Awareness and Supplementation ~ Food awareness helps create a positive, mindful connection to food and encourages a more favourable relationship between you and added healthy food choices. If supplements are indeed beneficial, I provide advice for particular supplementation.
I also specialize in adrenal fatigue as well as nutritional guidance for peri-menopausal, menopausal and post menopausal symptoms. This can also include assistance for women’s breast and heart health.
Clients receive an initial 1 ½ hour consultation. The client may be required to fill out an assessment form that they can take with them and answer on their own time.
A follow up appointment will entail an analysis of the assessment form if necessary and personal advice for the particular individual. Working with the individual analysis, the client’s concerns and my recommendations, a successive appointment will move the client in a positive direction.
Upon request I offer shopping advice for incorporating precise foods and products into one’s food practices, how to read labels, avoid additives & preservatives and provide food options for quick, simple meal planning.
A special three appointment package rate may be initially purchased.
Three appointments are usually requisite to obtain pertinent information, assess the individual’s needs & requirements and to establish the clients concerns, nutritional necessities, customized program and/or supplementation
My approach to Nutritional Guidance is not based on restrictions, limitations and counting calories. When clients are asked to count, weigh and view food from a conventional practice there is usually a lack of compliance due to perceived complications.
I want the focus for the client to be on whole foods with a consorted effort to ultimately eliminate refined, processed foods. I will work to incorporate whole foods into the client’s diet and to provide ongoing support and direction to help the client navigate his/her way through the grocery store, restaurants and daily life.
