Tui Na – Chinese Acupressure Massage (Dr. Wu’s Head Massage [TM])
This kind of massage works to bring health and balance to all the body’s organ systems by working with the flow of Qi energy through meridian systems and energy-points, particularly on the head, shoulders, neck and face. Qi (pronounced ‘chee’) energy is the vital life force which permeates the whole universe, within the body Qi energy flows to all the body’s organs, tissues and to the brain.
Tui Na massage is one of the oldest known systems of massage, used in China for over 4000 years and is still used today in traditional Chinese hospitals and clinics to enhance overall health.
Pressure of varying and controlled intensities, with constantly varying directions, are applied using palms, forearms, fingers, thumbs, knuckles and elbows to the acupressure points on the body. Through the application of massage and manipulation techniques Tui Na seeks to establish a more harmonious flow of Qi energy through the body, allowing the body the naturally heal itself.
Tui Na has no adverse effects, although it can be a powerful treatment in terms of re-adjusting the functions of the body, some patients may feel the build up and release of pressure throughout the body, or may feel slightly sedated immediately after treatment. Much depends on the patient and the nature and longevity of the disease being treated.
Tui Na is effective in the treatment of:

- Musculo-skeletal problems, soft tissue injuries and energy imbalances including acute and chronic pain, tension and stiffness
