"With its roots in India, Traditional Thai Massage made its way in the early years of development to Southeast Asia. For centuries, it was performed by monks in the temples (called 'Wats') as one of the four elements of indigenous Thai Medicine."

Teaching Methods
Students are encouraged to think 'Thai'! In the traditional method of study, as those at ITM in Chiang Mai, Thailand, students are introduced to each series of massage technique or yoga-like stretches in a step-by-step method, so as to create a natural flow that is effective and in a logical sequence. Students then have an opportunity for hands-on practice, taking turns at being both the receiver as well as giver.
