Cupping
What is Cupping Therapy?
Cupping involves the application of glass or plastic cups over certain acupuncture points and/ or over areas of pain, an ancient Chinese method of causing local congestion and improving localized circulation. A partial vacuum is created in cups placed on the skin either by means of heat or suction. The cups are left in place on the skin for 5-15minutes and are gently removed by pressing down on the skin and letting the air out of the cup. Cupping does leave a mark on the body which lasts for about 4-10 days depending on the condition. The mark is very useful as a diagnostic tool - the darker the mark, the more stagnation there is in the muscles. As the marks lighten through progressive treatments, it is a sign that the underlying conditions are improving.
Cupping therapy has been further developed as a means to open the 'Meridians' of the body. Meridians are the conduits in the body through which energy flows to every part of the body and through every organ and tissue. There are five meridians on the back that, when opened, allow invigorating energy to travel the whole length of the body. It has been found that cupping is probably the best way of opening those meridians.
Cupping is a tremendously useful technique for symptoms of pain as well as many other conditions. Cupping has also been found to affect the body up to four inches into the tissues, causing tissues to release toxins, activate the lymphatic system, clear colon blockages, help activate and clear the veins, arteries and capillaries, activate the skin, clear stretch marks and improve varicose veins. Cupping is the best deep tissue massage available and is very safe.
Cupping helps to improve the circulation in muscles and body tissues, helps to alleviate pain and underlying health issues. Cupping helps symptoms of generalized pain, injuries of the back/shoulders/neck, herniated discs, disc degeneration and arthritis.
