Chi Nei Tsang (CNT)
Chi Nei Tsang (CNT) -Qi Kung Chi Nei Tsang (Khadro Chi Nei Tsang Tradition)
Chi Nei Tsang (pronounced ‘chee nay tsang’) literally means “working the energy of the internal organs” or “internal organs chi transformation.” CNT is a special healing modality, combining both subtle energy-work and counseling-therapy in one technique, integrating the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of our being. It is all-at-once gentle, gradual, empowering and very powerful.
CNT helps the client process and clear strong psychological, emotional, psychic and spiritual blocks and issues that are improperly stored, trapped, alienated and disassociated in the nervous system. By using a gentle touch on specific, targeted areas of the viscera, and harmonizing this with the breath-work of both practitioner and client, old, stagnant and “sick” energies that tie up and unbalance the body can be digested and released. This then frees up the nervous system, allows for the generation of more personal vitality and thus leads to the optimal health of body and mind.
Chi Nei Tsang (CNT) is a form of non-invasive abdominal massage based on ancient, Chinese Taoist techniques that enhance the energy flow to all of the major systems in the body. CNT came into being in the mountain ranges of Taoist China. It was used by monks in monasteries to help detoxify, strengthen and refine their bodies in order to maintain the high pure energy required to perform the highest levels of spiritual practices.
The benefits of CNT include:
- Detoxification: CNT detoxifies and tonifies the internal organs, uncovers repressed emotions, and releases structural tensions. CNT manipulations help relieve the body of old stagnant energy, improving elimination and stimulating the lymphatic and the circulatory systems. CNT can assist in strengthening the immune system.
- CNT helps to restructure and strengthen the body: because it addresses the visceral structures and positioning of internal organs, CNT stimulates them to work better and also helps correct the postural problems resulting from visceral imbalances. It can release deep-seated tensions and restores vitality. CNT has been helpful with chronic pains such as back, neck and shoulder pains and problems related to misalignment of the feet, legs and pelvis.
- CNT leads to greater self awareness and helps to deal better with ones emotional
life, especially when difficult emotions are involved with chronic illness, as Chi Nei Tsang brings awareness and support to the process of ‘digesting’ repressed emotions. All of our unprocessed emotional life is stored in our digestive system waiting to be addressed. Poor emotional digestion is also one of the main reasons for ill health. CNT facilitates the unfolding of emotions and the clarification of our emotional life. This makes it possible for us to evolve and grow in the direction of our better self. CNT is also a system of personal development that emphasizes self-empowerment.
- CNT has great results with many women’s health issues. CNT can play a role in reducing painful cramps, and relieve the pain and infertility associated with endometriosis.
- Chi Nei Tsang is also useful in helping to improve digestion, absorption, and pain associated with blockages in the abdomen.
- Almost anyone can benefit from the relaxing and stress relieving qualities of Chi Nei Tsang. People needing support for their digestive, respiratory, cardio-vascular, lymphatic, nervous, endocrine, urinary, reproductive systems may find Chi Nei Tsang to be a gentle, life enhancing solution.
- CNT augments other health care modalities with optimal results. Clients can use CNT before and after surgery recover better and faster. It complements any existing practice.
What happens during a CNT appointment?
The CNT work is done fully clothed. The client lies comfortably on his or her back, with legs gently supported and the abdomen exposed. CNT is done either on a floor mat or on a massage table. The session begins with some breathing exercises. The practitioner uses a supporting touch to guide the breath into places that have holdings, bringing the breath into a deeper more relaxed pattern.
Clients often experience a deep sense of relaxation and connection with themselves on a physical and emotional level sometimes for days after a session. There is a broad range of individual results from CNT, varying from session-to-session as well as person-to-person. Most of the time people feel a little altered, things seem clearer, and more vivid. Some people get tired and need to sleep for hours after a session. Some people get an energy boost, and feel great for the rest of the day. Some people feel very tired the next day. Others feel very emotional, crying or being very angry and irritable, or both with laughing mixed in as well! Some individuals do not feel much at all.
To conclude the sessions, the CNT practitioner may teach simple self-help techniques and offer follow up care to be done at home or before the next appointment. This is important to maintain and continue the work of the session.
In the long run, CNT is life enhancing. Many people become more aware of the life patterns that cause emotional contraction and illness in their bodies and learn to reshape their lives for better health and personal potential.
"Matthew, I wanted to share with you my observations and benefits I have experienced from my CNT sessions with you. The initial sessions were subtle and gradual with periodic moments of vibration and heat. After 4 treatments, I began to feel marked energy shifts; with waves of emotion arising fully in my be-ing and the opportunity for the release of stagnant old memories. After 5-6 treatments both the emotional and physical shifts were visible and are still unfolding daily. Words may fail to accurately describe my personal experience of CNT, however the benefits are undeniable and noticeable. It is like through the subtle energy work of CNT, I am more consciously able to allow the emergence of old, unresolved emotions to surface, and then witness these old (no longer useful) energies move out of my body. It is said that the bodies emotions are stored in its cells, left unresolved, these emotions can take up space in the physical body, leaving little room for anything new or light and certainly limiting the continual flow of the bodies vital energy.... Only now, after I have felt the benefit of the moving of old memories (that I was not even conscious I was storing) for their release, I can honestly say that 'more space' is apparent, I am noticing more reserves in my physical energy and feeling more available to be present in the NOW. I feel lighter... with such an increase in energy. What a fabulous opportunity for growth, reflection and an increase in personal self awareness." In gratitude ~ K. Yardley
