Allergy Testing (Food and Environmental Panels)
Allergies are the result of the body’s increased sensitivity to common substances in our environment or consumed in the foods we eat. These substances are called allergens. Allergens are agents which can cause various reactions and enter the body through the skin, ingestion or inhalation. Seasonal pollens from grasses, trees, weeds, shrubs, molds, animal dander, house dust, foods and additives found in our foods are all examples of common allergens.
When an allergic person is exposed to an allergen the immune system produces an antibody, called IgE. It is the result of this antibody production that eventually causes allergy symptoms: such as sneezing, runny nose, headaches, breathing problems, nausea, hives and a variety of other reactions.
Our allergy testing offers a variety of comprehensive choices.
Regionally specific, our environmental panel tests 45 allergens including grasses, weeds, tree pollens, molds, fungi, dust mites, feathers and animal dander.
Our complete food allergen panel tests up to 90 food allergens including dairy, wheat, wheat gluten, casein, seafood, meat, poultry, fruits, common vegetables, grains, spices and food additives including MSG, nitrates, nuts and sulfites.
