To brew herbal tea using dried herbs: An infusion method is used to prepare herbal teas from the leaves, flowers and fragrant plant parts. One teaspoon of dry herb is used for every one cup of boiling water. The herbs are then steeped, covered for 5 to 15 minutes before straining and drinking. A preparation called a decoction is used to prepare a medicinal tea from the bark, root, berries and any harder plant parts. The dried herb is placed in a pot, covered with cold water and brought to a boil. The heat is then reduced and the decoction is then covered and allowed to simmer, but not boil, for 10 to 15 minutes. For maximum benefit consume herbal tea while it is warm and between meals.
